Parmesan Crisps — An Alternative To Chips
Parmesan crisps are the answer to one of my prayers. If you’ve ever searched for a healthy alternative to potato chips, you know just how hard they can be to find. It is extraordinarily rare for a store-bought chip to be fried in anything other than an industrially-processed, modern, highly-refined vegetable oil. Homemade chips can be made using healthy fats, but they’re so much work! As such, they’re relegated to ultra-rare treats in our home. That is, until I discovered Parmesan Crisps!
Cider Braised Brats, Onions, & Peppers
Does a gluten-free lifestyle mean you have to miss out on beer braised bratwurst from now until eternity? Of course not. There’s always the gluten-free hard stuff. But either way, gluten-free or not, I’ve never really thought beer braised brats tasted like much more than just…brats. So we’ve decided to amp up the flavor by using hard apple cider in place of the beer. Hard apple cider is naturally gluten-free and full of delicious caramel, fruity flavor, a near perfect compliment to sausage, onions and peppers.

Orange Julius Recipe
During my childhood, Orange Julius was a source of delight on Saturday morning outings to the mall. I remember when my mother insisted that she could duplicate the famous original orange julius smoothie in our own home. She got out her tiny little hand juicer and set to work. At some point, she cracked open an egg and put it in the blender. “We get to be like Rocky!” my older brother chimed in. (If you don’t get the joke, you will make me feel old. So, please don’t say anything.)
Bacon Wrapped Sweet Potato Bites
I guess you could wrap almost anything in bacon, and I’d love it. I’m imagining scallops, shrimp, asparagus, artichokes, new potatoes, jalepenos, dates, …. and more. But these Bacon Wrapped Sweet Potato Bites may just steal the show. Naturally sweet. Salty. Spicy. These goodies are crisp on the outside with an inside that melts in your mouth. They are a simple, yet delectable finger food.
Jalapeno Popper Recipe — Imagine A Dip
Recipes for jalepeño poppers are a dime a dozen. There are so many variations on the theme of stuffed jalepeño peppers — bacon-wrapped jalepeños stuffed with cream cheese, refried beans, even smoked salmon. Growing up in Texas, jalepeño poppers of one variety or another made a show at every party. And just about every fast food chain or down-home restaurant serves up its own take on the jalepeño popper as a crowd-pleasing appetizer.
But here’s the thing. Following most recipes for jalepeño poppers is labor intensive. You’ve got to cut each jalepeño in half, seed the jalepeño halves, stuff each jalepeño half with something gooey, then either wrap the jalepeño up in bacon or roll it in breadcrumbs before baking it.
So, I got inspired. Why not transform my favorite jalepeño popper recipe into a dip?

Fried Chicken Skins
I really love pork rinds & cracklings, but it’s next to impossible to find any commercial brands that source foraging piggies. Make my own, you say? I’ve tried that, but it just takes so darn long. When those salty snack craving hits, sometimes you want instant gratification.
