I love this book. Can I say it again? I LOVE THIS BOOK. I have always loved almost anything that Joel Salatin writes or says. Having read a number of his books, you’d think I’d be over him already. I mean, how many times can somebody keep saying basically the same thing over and over again before you get tired of hearing it? Well, it hasn’t happened yet for me with Joel.

Urgent Action For Raw Milk Rights Required
In Canada, unlike here in the U.S., raw milk sales are illegal. That hasn’t stopped Canadian raw dairy farmer and activist Michael Schmidt from providing the nourishing, all-natural food to those who want it. He set up the equivalent of a herd-share arrangement where those wanted to could purchase a share of a dairy herd. What’s so magical about that? Well, if you are a partial owner of the herd, then you are theoretically entitled to a share of the milk that herd produces. This way raw milk consumers are consuming the milk from cows they own.
Fried Chicken Skins
I really love pork rinds & cracklings, but it’s next to impossible to find any commercial brands that source foraging piggies. Make my own, you say? I’ve tried that, but it just takes so darn long. When those salty snack craving hits, sometimes you want instant gratification.
Will I See You In Dallas?
I admit it. I’m actually a bit nervous. I spend most of my time at home — homeschooling three little ones, working on the Food Renegade site and related projects, and housekeeping. It suits me because I’m an introvert. I enjoy writing, emailing, blogging. I enjoy being with my family. I guess I’m a homebody. I’m the sort of person that goes to hear Joel Salatin speak, but I don’t introduce myself despite the fact that we’ve shared email exchanges and he’s written guest posts for me before.
So, what’s an introvert like me doing going to the 2011 Wise Traditions Conference in Dallas, TX next month? Why am I subjecting myself to a crowd of like-minded people? Rubbing shoulders with folks like Sally Fallon Morell, Mark McAffee, Dr. Mercola, and others? What was I thinking when I agreed to get up in front of an audience and actually speak in public about my experience blogging?
I’ll tell you what I was thinking. I was thinking “Boo-Yah!”

A Tax On Saturated Fat
Talk about misguided. The country of Denmark recently passed a tax on all foods containing more than 2.3 percent saturated fat. Naturally, many healthy, whole foods made the list of taxable foods, including: avocados, butter from grass-fed cows, eggs from hens raised on pasture, and coconut oil.
Big Ag Deceives Us With Not So Natural Foods
The label natural is one of the least regulated descriptors in the U.S. marketplace, and major agribusiness companies are using that to their advantage. In the latest report issued by the consumer watchdog group, The Cornucopia Institute, we learn that they’ve routinely filled boxes of cereal goods with GMO-riddled, chemically-laden foods and slapped the label natural on them so that we’ll feel better about buying them. From Kellogg’s to Whole Foods, it seems no major label is exempt from this practice.
