I just discovered that you’re in Georgetown! I grew up in Austin before Highway 35 became one continuous business district. Howdy, Neighbor!

  2. Leslie Parker says

I want very much to give one of these to my 89 year old mother. She has a bad heart and works hard at trying to eat healthy. This would be a huge boon to her. If I had the funds I’d buy one. This is the next best option.

  3. Mindy says

I would love to win the vita-mix! My father was diagnosed with carcinoid syndrome that spread to his liver. since then we have been eating a lot of organic food. This type of cancer secretes serotonin through his body, which causes him to lose what he eats several times a day. I am afraid he loses the benefits from his food. Juicing would be beneficial.

  4. Crleni Gutierrez says

  5. says

  9. Steve says

I never win anything. I have to admit I’ve been very lucky in some things, but not winning contests. Who knows, maybe my luck will change, I can sure use one of these babies.

      Yes, it’s free.

Basically, to host a giveaway, I’ve got to do a lot of CYA to make sure I’m complying with all the FTC rules. In this case, I’m ensuring that I link to the product on Amazon so that you know PRECISELY what your prize is. By visiting that link, you’re getting a full description, access to customer reviews, and learning what the monetary value of the prize is from a verified third-party source.

(This is also why in the Terms & Conditions on the widget itself you’ll see language describing how you can enter the giveaway with a postcard. No one actually *does,* but I’ve got to have that option legally available otherwise I could fall into violation of federal lottery laws.)

I’m sorry it’s a bit inconvenient, but it *is* necessary.

  12. Mari says

I never win anything either but here’s hoping my luck might change. I have something called gastroparesis (my stomach is paralyzed due to an injured nerve, it can’t do its churning-and-pushing-out-to-small-intestine duties properly and so often sends its contents back up) so my food frequently has to be entirely liquid for it to leave my stomach by gravity alone. I could do so much more with a Vitamix than I can with my cheapo blender!

Robert Myers – yes, it’s free, and jumping through all the hoops like going to is just part of the routine for entering the giveaway. It took me less than 5 minutes to go through all five steps. It’s irritating, yes, especially when I’m trying to get OFF Facebook and similar social media sites and too many of these newsletters are dominated by “buy this e-book, buy this e-course, buy buy buy!!!”, but it’s just the way FoodRenegade and many of her fellow bloggers prefer to run their giveaways and if you want a chance at winning the item you just put up with it…

Mari — You’re basically right. Unfortunately, as professional bloggers (i.e. this is our income), we have to do a lot of CYA to make sure we’re complying with all the FTC rules.

Other bloggers may not pay as much attention to the law because their blogs aren’t their livelihood, or because they’re just not aware of the law yet.

This is also why I’m not an affiliate for food products. According to the FDA, you can’t make health claims about the food/herbs/products you sell. And according to the FTC, affiliates are employed sales people of the companies they’re selling for through their affiliate relationship. (They actually shut down Wilderness Family Natural’s affiliate program a few years ago for just this thing.)

So, if I wanted to be an affiliate of a food company (like Cultures for Health or U.S. Wellness Meats), I’d have to remove all health claims from my site. Obviously, I don’t want to do that. I want to be free to write a post that says “Coconut oil can help your child’s eczema.” So, to ensure my freedom to continue making health claims about foods, and to ensure that the product’s I’m endorsing don’t bear financial liability for those claims, I can’t be their affiliate.

And as before, there are plenty of bloggers out there breaking these rules. But the FTC has gone after some of them, and the FDA has gone after bigger affiliate-based companies like Wilderness Family Naturals. So, I’d rather play it safe and have advertisers/sponsors instead.

Anyhow, all this is to say: there are reasons!

  13. Maxine says

Have wished for one of these for many yrs. in my canning and preparation of food for my family.

I would love to win this!!! My son and I are trying to eat healthier and this would really help, besides I really, really want one of these so, so bad!
I don’t ever win anything like this either, but like Mari said above, maybe hers or my luck will change.

    Have a wonderful day!

  15. says

Thanks for the amazing give away! I have used these a few times at friends houses and am amazed by their power and versatility! I’ve been putting off buying one just because the price is a little out of my budget but it would be so amazing to WIN one! -Best, Martha

i just want to say that your blog was the first cog in the wheel in my journey to clean eating. i don’t remember how i stumbled upon it, but i do remember it was my first glimpse into looking at nutrition a different way, analyzing my choices for myself and my kids. i also remember telling my father about it and him telling me that these were all things his grandmother did and made back in the old country in crimea when he was growing up in the 20’s and 30’s. these discussions prompted him to start fermenting and also eliminating processed foods out of his diet. at 88 years old, he completely changed his eating habits. he now makes sauerkraut and yogurt regularly, as i do as well.

  17. Carol says

Really enjoy your newsletter.Found your site when I started making Kombucha fermented tea. Followed your easy instruct. and it’s going great.Keep up the good info.

Looking forward to reading your newsletters when I get a few minutes to research your website.

    Thanks again!

  21. JenGren says

I just discovered your blog and it looks like it’s right up my alley. I’ve heard great things about these blenders; it would be cool to win one ’cause my cheapie 12 year old blender is about to croak.

  22. Michelle C says

My husband and I are preparing for our first baby in May! we have been eating primal for about 4 years now and were just discussing how we wanted to get a vitamix! They are such a wonderful tool to have in the house for healthy eats! :)

I use a blender every day to make kefir, coconut oil, fruit smoothies. The cheap one I have is soooo frustrating! I constantly have to help it mix. I really NEED a Vitamix! Thanks for the chance to win one!

  24. Linda says

What an awesome giveaway. I could use this for a breakfast smoothy before classes, a quick lunch or dinner when I am to busy doing homework to cook. This would be a nice item in any home but great for college students.

  25. Nickelle says

I need a good blender so badly. Mine is crap on so many levels. It has trouble blending up a fruit smoothie or a milkshake! Never mind nut butters or nut milks.

  26. Diane says

This item has been on my wishlist for YEARS!! I’ve never seen one go on sale that meets my price range… I’m looking forward to making creamy soups (my stick blender just doesn’t do the job), sauces (the ninja blender doesn’t cut it when making a savory cashew sauce, it’s always a bit lumpy), nut milks, hummus, and blended smoothies. *crossing fingers*

  27. Jill says

I would LOVE to win a Vitamix!!!! With three little boys I’m always trying to find creative ways to make healthy eating exciting and delicious! There are many ideas I’d love to try with this blender. Here’s hoping!!!!

  28. Susie Legg says

I just saw one of these at Bed Bath & Beyond. Thank you for the opportunity and your great giveaways. Definitely a big personal WANT on my list of appliances for becoming a real foodie – the other one is a toaster/convection oven, gotta get away from the nasty microwave.

  29. Karen says

I use my Vita-mix EVERY day for one thing or another–it’s paid for itself many times over since we bought it at least 10 years ago! If my entry happens to win, this blender would be a wedding present for my daughter!!!

  30. Tricia says

Wow!!! After reading the reviews on Amazon, I am convinced that this is THE mixer to own! NO comparison to my blender! I would love to try making nut butters! Thank you for being so generous in giving this away to your fans! Good luck everyone!

  34. says

This would be a blessing should you chose myself. I have several severe chronic pain syndromes that I have been fighting for the last seven years. The Interstitial Cystitis(IC) is the only disorders that doctors, researchers, and scientist all agree the pain is comparable and or worst than patients with cancer and our quality of life is lower than those in end-stage renal failure. All the doctors I have seen has informed me I am the worst IC, fibromyalgia, widespread pain syndrome, etc… to name a few, chronic pain patient they have seen during their practice.
To be able to make anti-inflammatory drinks and make a quick meal during the time I am alone is a necessity.
Thank so much for the wonderfully kind and generous opportunity you have given each and every one of us a chance to win this beautiful appliance.

I’m gathering my tools together in anticipation of my other half coming home. The cancer surgery and post op complications are going to require serious dietary gymnastics, and this looks like a good addition to the “arsenal” I’ll need. Thank you again for the excellent choice of prizes.
