Welcome to another Fight Back Friday, everyone! Today we’re bringing together a collection of recipes, tips, anecdotes, and testimonies from members of the Real Food Revolution.
Who are they? Why, they’re the Food Renegades. You know who you are — lovers of SOLE (Sustainable, Organic, Local, and Ethical) food, traditional food, primal food, REAL food, the list goes on. I believe that by joining together, our influence can grow, and we can change the way America (and the industrialized world) eats!
So, let’s have some fun.
If you want to participate but aren’t sure how, please read these guidelines for how Fight Back Fridays will work.
Please be courteous and use your BEST blog carnival manners! In the very least, that means remember the two most important things you can do:
- Share a relevant post from your blog with us using the Mr. Linky Widget below (don’t just link to your blog’s home page).
- In your post, be sure to link back to this post (not the Food Renegade home page) so that your readers can have access to all the information and encouragement we’ll be sharing.
Please also feel free to make use of any of the banners below by saving the image to your desktop then uploading it to your own server. (You don’t have to use them, but they’re there for you!)
If you don’t have a blog but are interested in joining the conversation, you can leave your comments below!
Today, I’m contributing an article on the dangers of soy. Did you know that a baby consuming the recommended amount of soy formula is ingesting the same amount of estrogen contained in FOUR birth control pills?
I can’t wait to see what you all share!
Fight Back Friday Banners
PLEASE NOTE: The smaller banners are also available as badges/buttons for your sites over on my sidebar so that you can sport your Real Food Lovin’ Pride and inspire others to join us in the Real Food Revolution. Just copy the code and paste it into your sidebar. (Again, you don’t have to use them to participate in the carnival.)

Much has changed since Fast Food Nation was published. Most important is the mainstreaming of conversations about where our food comes from and how it is impacting the world around us. This week post paints an entrepreneurial picture of exciting times ahead!

Today’s post is the recipe for our favorite beef stew. We usually make it with bison, as I’ve got a lot of bison meat in the freezer.
Happy Friday!

This week I’ve posted an extremely inspiring video about Permaculture practices being used to restore life and food productivity to the desert in the MidEast. These “permanent agriculture” techniques are adaptable anywhere where there is soil, and can solve both our food security issues and our environmental ills too.

My post is right on point with Kristen’s article today on the Dangers of Soy. It is about a woman whose health was destroyed when soy milk was combined with extremely high dose birth control pills. And she was only doing what her doctor told her–Yikes.
If your hair ever starts falling out, check the soy in your diet. From this horror story I have learned that hormonal issues cause hair loss–and my hairdresser confirmed this when I told her about this story. Now, my hairdresser knows to warn people that soy may be a contributing factor.
Everyone, read this story and let your doctor and your hairdresser know about it. You may save other women untold misery. You may even save a life.

My article today is about getting the most out of your meals so that you are doing less in-between meal snacking. The article talks about how people tend to load up on unhealthy items between meals because they lack nutritional content in the foods they eat at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and how to replace what you are eating with healthier choices for snacks and meals. Thanks for Fight Back Fridays, Kristen!

I shared my recipe for Bigos today. It’s still swelteringly hot in Austin, TX, but now that the calendar says “Fall,” I like to pretend it’s cool outside. And that means a hearty stew to warm me up from the inside out. Hope you like it!

I attended the Slow Money conference last week and wrote about the meal served the last night. Utilizing all local and organic ingredients, as well as highlighting a few Native American traditional foods, it was superb!

Catherine @ Healthy Fit Mom says
It turns out that Canada is proposing legislation that will allow government to trespass on private property without a warrant, find a citizen guilty until proven innocent, steal and destroy your stuff without cause and remove any right or freedom you may have if it will benefit the good of the nation (mandatory mass vaccinations).
I have heard nothing about this bill in the media. There have been no outcries or protests about this.
But these kind of freedoms have been fought over in wars and revolutions. People lost their lives in combat to protect these freedoms. Now Canadians are at risk of losing them. This past Wednesday a second reading of this Bill was put forth by the Senate and not a peep was heard on TV, Print media, or the Radio.
A third reading would pass it this Bill into effect!
Grrr…
So I started making calls to the major radio stations and television stations and hopefully I hear about it on the 6 o clock news.

Nothing says REAL food quite like local, pastured lamb chops marinated in fresh rosemary and garlic then quickly seared and served with demi-glace, fresh peas with fried shallots and mint and true wild rice with mushrooms.
Thanks, Kristen!

glad to see your pictures Colleeen … and Michele Obama standing in front of Rappahannock County’s The Farm at Sunnyside. Did not realize security check was so heavy. We live in a crazy world.
For those who want to continue the local flavor: at the end of the week (Sept 26 & 27) there is the Rappahannock County Farm Tour featuring over 20 venues showcasing local sustainable agriculture: meat farm, vegetable farm, vineyard, heirloom apple orchard, nurseries, farm school with lots of activities for the entire family. Come visit!
http://farmtour.visitrappahannockva.com/
The Rappahannock farm Tour is one reason that I have not posted much to my blog recently nor visited others very often over the last 2 months…
