Tomato Basil Soup Recipe

Tomato Basil Soup is a weekly feature on our summer menu. Creamy, savory, and brimming with the rich flavor of freshly ripened tomatoes, we just can’t get enough! This year, practically every farmer in the area had a bumper crop of tomatoes, so these glorious summer fruits could be had for as little as 50% of their normal price. I’m tempted to buy a bushel or two to put up for the winter, just so that I can keep having tomato basil soup all year long.

Scientists Create Meat Out Of Feces

You can’t make this stuff up. Japanese scientists have taken proteins found in human feces and engineered edible, artificial steaks out of it. Of course, as with any fake meat, the steaks — which many claim tastes “just like beef” — are pumped full of artificial food dyes and dangerous soy proteins. Why would you possibly want to eat steaks created out of human excrement?

Whole Foods Includes GMOs In “All Natural” Foods

Do you believe in the Whole Foods fairy?

She used to be your garden variety woodland sprite, but times are hard and sorting mountains of corn and soy for Whole Foods is a sweet gig. Just sprinkle a little magical fairy dust and VOILA! The genetically modified feed separates from the conventional feed in a snap.

It’s a win-win, really. Whole Foods gets to charge a premium for it’s GMO-free natural meats, the fairy gets a generous 401K with rollover, and the consumer gets a superior product.

How Will You Fight For Raw Milk?

Last week, Obama’s food safety chief Michael R. Taylor defended the recent FDA raids against raw milk producers, even when none of the milk is actually contaminated with pathogens. He said that such sting operations were based on a “public health duty” and “statutory directive.” In other words, the FDA believes that all raw milk is dangerous and bad for you, and they’re going to do everything in their power to keep you from getting your hands on it.

Not surprisingly, the recent food safety legislation passed through congress will empower the FDA to do just that.
