GIVEAWAY: The Ultimate Kombucha Making Kit

Making kombucha for the first time was like a revelation. I felt like a master of the universe, but in this case it was just a gallon-sized jar of fermented tea. There were some things about the process that were a little bit gross — like handling the SCOBY for the first time, or filtering out strings of dead yeast that looked suspiciously like loogies. But when I sat down to drink my first glass of homemade apple-jasmine kombucha, I was in love. Kombucha became my family’s beverage of choice for breakfast and lunch. Only at dinner did we indulge in a glass of raw milk from grass-fed cows.

This week, I’m giving away the Ultimate Kombucha Making Kit (a $50 value!), courtesy of one of my sponsors, Julie from Cultures for Health. You’ll win everything you need to get yourself started brewing kombucha.

The kit includes:

  • Scoby
  • Plastic Strainer
  • 4 Flip-top Bottles
  • 8 oz. Oolong Tea
  • Set of pH Strips

The only missing ingredients are sugar to feed your starter, and a large, gallon-sized glass container for the ferment (you can pick these up at any Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Target, Wal-Mart, etc. for just $5).

Hi Kristen, I am looking forward to win this Kombucha making set :) I always wanted to try but never found the courage so I am still buying, but this kit seems to make it easy. The only fermented food I did was Kimchi! – I “Liked” and “shared” CfH and your site and signed up with you and CfH for newsletter. I recently discovered “StumbleUpon” so I took the chance to like you under my Favorites and even put in a short review (took me a bit to find the box, lol). Too bad, got no Twitter and no Blog yet, maybe next year :) I love your site with endless possibilities and info about nutrition and else; I took the chance to download your Kombucha e-book; I got Oolong/Jasmin too……..so I’m really holding both thumbs to get lucky. – Thank you for the opportunity and “Happy, Healthy Blogging”

i have never had kombuchas but it sounds interesting so why not give it a try – right? not like it is going to hurt me or anything (as some of the other “foods” you can buy currently might)

I used to brew my own kombucha and my kids love it! I would love to get back to brewing again – we lost our kombucha to mold and I didn’t have a back up scoby in the fridge. I would love to get going again as over $3 a bottle at the store is sooo pricey given how easy it is to make your own!
