Fight Back Friday May 18th

Welcome to another Fight Back Friday! Today we are bringing together another collection of recipes, tips, anecdotes, and testimonies from members of the Real Food Revolution.

Who are they? Why, they’re the Food Renegades. You know who you are — lovers of SOLE (Sustainable, Organic, Local, and Ethical) food, traditional food, primal food, REAL food, the list goes on. I believe that by joining together, our influence can grow, and we can change the way America (and the industrialized world) eats!

So, let’s have some fun.

If you want to participate but aren’t sure how, please read these guidelines for how Fight Back Fridays will work.

Please be courteous and use your BEST blog carnival manners! In the very least, that means remember the two most important things you can do:

  1. Share a relevant post from your blog with us using the McLinky Widget below (don’t just link to your blog’s home page).
  2. In your post, be sure to link back to this post (not the Food Renegade home page) so that your readers can have access to all the information and encouragement we’ll be sharing.

Please also feel free to make use of any of the banners below by saving the image to your desktop then uploading it to your own server. (You don’t have to use them, but they’re there for you!)

If you don’t have a blog but are interested in joining the conversation, you can leave your comments below!

I can’t wait to see what you all share!

I am a passionate advocate for REAL FOOD -- food that's sustainable, organic, local, and traditionally-prepared according to the wisdom of our ancestors. I'm also an author and a nutrition educator. I enjoy playing in the rain, a good bottle of Caol Ila scotch, curling up with a page-turning book, sunbathing on my hammock, and watching my three children explore their world.

Hi! This week I posted on stinging nettles, including a recipe for nettle paté. I also posted on why we need to label Genetically Modified foods, which most people don’t know make up 70% of all foods on grocery store shelves and have never been tested for safety.

California is poised to become the first state in the nation to require labeling of GMO foods, and WE REALLY NEED HELP to beat Monsanto. If the labeling initiative passes in CA, the rest of the nation will follow.

Thanks for hosting and have a great week!

    This week we have a huge opportunity to do something about getting GMOs labelled – we can support a bill in California which would have huge knockon effects in the rest of America and indeed the world, as California is one of the biggest economies in the world. I share the details in my post here;

Please lets do something about this now!

  6. this week I’ve linked up Part 2 of Why 3 Ways Are a Good Idea: Scratch Gnocchi in a Truffled Mixed Mushroom Frenzy with crispy sage and of course a little brown butter action :)

    Hola!

In anticipation of Summer I kind of jumped the gun a little bit and hopped on the strawberry train. Choo Choo!

This week I’ve posted an homage to a 1980′s Sweet Treat. In that cheesy 1980′s seduce-your-flight-instructor-to-the-tune-of-Take My Breath Away kind of way. Read: Dark chocolate covered strawberries with pistachios. Oh yeah.

Hi Kristen! Thanks for hosting. This week I’m beginning a series on the household economics of real food. I’m kicking it of with Is Real Food Really More Expensive?. If anyone has any questions about buttermilk this post may help. Also, I’ve shared my disastrous attempt to make a plain white cake healthier. I plan to give it another shot soon, so stay tuned!

This week I’m sharing parts 2 and 3 of my freezer series. See how to keep track of all that goes into your freezer, and also enjoy my ode all about my freezer. Yep, I wrote a little poetry about my kitchen appliance!

I’m also sharing my sad tale of how I lost some of my jars with a great tip so that you don’t have the same problem.

I woud love pics like that! I am doing well. I am not having a hard time tracikng, and feel like I have more energy. One bad habit that has come back since the last WW go is Diet Cola I was addicted, and now I feel myself getting back into it. I don’t love the fact that it will probably give me cancer, but oh well, it’s 0 pts Other than that, on thursday I weighed myself and I had lost 3 lbs. I am not sure if that was just fluctuation so I am not going to actually weigh myself again until Monday morning. Over all, I think it’s going well.

Would you stand up to your state government if they tried to interfere in your food choice?

This brave mom is doing just that!
