Blood oranges are a wonderful complement to kombucha. Naturally sweet, their beautiful purple flesh is an unmistakable mutation that has afforded them a special place in the hearts of citrus lovers everywhere. First discovered in Italy, these delicious fruits add a twist of the exotic to your kombucha!

Rock the Casbah Kombucha: The Players
If you are using several smaller glass jars, you will add:
- 1 Tablespoon of blood orange juice
- 1/2 teaspoon of diced, fresh ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon of whole cloves
If you use a large glass jar (buy jar here), you will add:
- 3/4 cup of blood orange juice
- 1 teaspoon of diced, fresh ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon of whole cloves (buy whole cloves here)
Rock the Casbah Kombucha: The How-To
Once your kombucha is brewed, pour it into the glass jar(s) and remove the SCOBY.
Next, add the blood orange juice, diced ginger, and whole cloves to your kombucha. Make sure to leave some breathing room at the top of your jar(s) before covering or sealing it!
Then, place your jar(s) back in your “fermenting place” for 48 hours and cover with a kitchen towel so they avoid exposure to direct sunlight.
Now, it’s time to kick back and enjoy a sip of your Rock the Casbah kombucha!
