Did you know that 1 gram of naturally-fermented sauerkraut can easily contain 54 billion live bacteria? Compare that to a fairly standard probiotic supplement, which only contains 2-5 billion live bacteria per pill. I’m not knocking the supplements. After all, I take them daily to act as a sort of “cushion” for the days when I fail to get a fermented food into my diet. (You can see which probiotics I recommend here.)
But WOW! 54 billion live bacteria??? In less than a half a teaspoon?
If you’re serious about helping to re-populate your gut with healthy, probiotic bacteria, you can’t do better than introducing cultured, living foods into your diet. But if you’re like most of us, the idea makes you nervous. How can you make sure your ferment is safe? How can you ensure consistent, good-tasting results? If you don’t like sauerkraut, what other types of fermented foods can you enjoy?
Last year, I took an e-course that rocked my world. It was called Get Cultured! How To Ferment Anything. In it, I learned how to ferment condiments like ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. I learned how to ferment sweet pickles, make yogurt & kefir. You name it; I learned how to safely turn it into a probiotic food. This week, I’m privileged to be giving away a free enrollment in the e-course to one of my lucky readers.

Ah. There WAS a video last week when I set this post up, but it looks like Jenny has updated her landing page since then. I just changed the language of the Rafflecopter widget to ask you guys to “read an introduction” so we can avoid confusion.

This e-course looks fantastic! I can’t imagine how amazing it would be to eat those probiotic-rich, delicious foods! I love trying new food and making things from scratch, so I’d love to win this.
I would love to win this e-course! I have been fermenting for about a year, some successful, some not so much. This e-course would be so helpful! Thanks for hosting this give-away!
Blessings to all entrants … we are new to fermentation in the creation department. Being from Hawaii, we grew up on a cultural mix of foods and love kimchee & daikon. I would love to make a multitude of fermented foods for my family as we all love them, but with a huge family, it’s getting harder to afford them. We’ve recently discovered a place to buy raw milk and have been making raw milk kefir and will soon be making our own crock-pot yogurt with the kefir, raw milk and a little of this one plain, whole milk yogurt we love.

The line up of classes seems utterly comprehensive and I do so much better SEEING something done than just reading the cookbook instructions.

This would enable me to do even more to keep my family healthy and eating well, without having to rely on store-bought items that don’t come anywhere close to those same foods made at home. Thanks for offering such a great opportunity! 😀

looks like a fantastic course!
would so love to learn this…live in a hot climate and sometimes no electric…
Thank you for this opportunity. I have been reading so much about the benefits of fermented foods and want to start making them for family to boost there health. This actually intimidates me though. What I love about this class is that I would have you (an expert)to kind of walk me through the process and give me the confidence.
Wow! The course looks amazing. I would be so happy to win this and learn how to ferment foods the right way.
Yes! Our family needs this great class! Thanks so much for offering a chance to win!
Would love to take this class! My (extended)family has so many diet-related health issues and I lost a very dear friend to cancer recently. All the doctors wanted to do was fill her body with poisons. After they couldn’t do anything else for her, THEN they suggested organic foods and told her they wished her well. I’m angry that I lost a dear, vibrant, witty, beautiful friend and I think if they had started with better food, detoxing, etc. she still might be here.
