Happy Fight Back Friday, everyone! Today we’re bringing together another collection of recipes, tips, anecdotes, and testimonies from members of the Real Food Revolution.
Who are they? Why, they’re the Food Renegades. You know who you are — lovers of SOLE (Sustainable, Organic, Local, and Ethical) food, traditional food, primal food, REAL food, the list goes on. I believe that by joining together, our influence can grow, and we can change the way America (and the industrialized world) eats!
So, let’s have some fun.
If you want to participate but aren’t sure how, please read these guidelines for how Fight Back Fridays will work.
Please be courteous and use your BEST blog carnival manners! In the very least, that means remember the two most important things you can do:
- Share a relevant post from your blog with us using the Mr. Linky Widget below (don’t just link to your blog’s home page).
- In your post, be sure to link back to this post (not the Food Renegade home page) so that your readers can have access to all the information and encouragement we’ll be sharing.
Please also feel free to make use of any of the banners below by saving the image to your desktop then uploading it to your own server. (You don’t have to use them, but they’re there for you!)
If you don’t have a blog but are interested in joining the conversation, you can leave your comments below!
Today, I’m sharing tips on how I feed my family of 4 on less than the federal food stamp allotment for a family of my size. I can’t wait to see what you all share.
Fight Back Friday Banners
PLEASE NOTE: The smaller banners are also available as badges/buttons for your sites over on my sidebar so that you can sport your Real Food Lovin’ Pride and inspire others to join us in the Real Food Revolution. Just copy the code and paste it into your sidebar. (Again, you don’t have to use them to participate in the carnival.)

I’ve combined simple, seasonal ingredients in a Moroccan-influenced dish of roasted tomatoes stuffed with with sustainable-certified albacore, capers, olives and Jenny’s preserved lemons.

The post I submitted was actually authored by Roberta Rosa, the newest member of the Farm To Table blog. I only edited Roberta and helped her flush out her fantastic ideas. Roberta has recently uncovered a treasure trove of family heirlooms in the form of 80 year old (some are even older) recipes that her “grandmother by courtesy” left her. They are simply amazing, and she’ll be cooking and blogging and photographing her way through them.

Hey Everyone!
This week in my food and health site my post is about South African foods and plants that I learnt about while travelling to RSA this month! It was really great learning about them!
Please read and comment them:)

Hello There!
I am sharing a healthy snack for kids that is better than the granola bar junk they ask for in the store–and the kids can help create it which always makes food taste better to them! Yummy goodness of dirt balls ( no actual dirt is harmed in the creating of this recipe!)

I’m coming back to life after destroying my health with a practically non-fat diet. Thank God for WAPF and the great information they disseminate on real, healing foods. And thanks for this great blog! I love reading other experiences with nourishing traditions 🙂

This week I created a totally primal grain-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free coconut blueberry muffin recipe that actually tastes good. 🙂

Local Nourishment says
The Center for Science in the Public Interest has brought a lawsuit on behalf of a consumer against Denny’s for their excessive use of salt. I’m all for food labeling, but what responsibility does the consumer have to safeguard their own bodies when eating out?

Hi, Kristen! My contribution today is a review of a book written in my locale – a woman who has harvested wild mushrooms for years and shared her knowledge about Pacific Northwest mushrooms in a book. The book is “A Visual Guide to Harvesting Mushrooms” by Leota McKenzie and it is full of useful information for beginning mushroomers, regardless of locale.

Nice list. My biggest pet peeve is when something says “all natural” and it’s not!

Hi,
Less of a testimonial, more of a “I’m starting on my Real Food Journey and this is my story” post about Kombucha!
Thanks for a great blog.

Great list. It should be posted in every place they sell food. There is so much confusion with the “labels” given food these days. I’ve gone asking is it safe? beneficial? I define safe as toxic free. Then I wonder is that enough.

Hi,
what a coincidence – I posted about taking my cooking camp students to the farmer’s market and it went live this morning: http://whatscookingblog.com/2009/08/07/summer-fun-farmers-market-scavenger-hunt/
Such a great experience for parents to bring their kids and for teachers to bring their students. We all learned so much – about organics, eating local, and about how foods like chocolate are made!
