Every now and then I experiment with ways to put more recent readers in touch with some of the most interesting articles and recipes I’ve shared (which are now gathering dust in my archives).
I saw Kelly The Kitchen Kop recently do a May Round-Up, thanking her top referrers AND sharing her top 5 pages for the month of May. It looked like fun! So, I decided to copy her, but build on what she did. Not only will I be thanking my top referrers & sharing the most popular posts from this month, but I’ll also share the most popular posts from May 2009.
I haven’t shared a Link Love post in quite a while, so I figured you guys were due! Once again, I hope you find these tantalizing tid bits of research, recipes, and articles as interesting as I do.
The Town That Food Saved initially sounds like some pie-in-the-sky, feel-good movie airing on a local television station during a nap-filled Sunday afternoon. Local food is the hero, sweeping in to rescue some down-in-the-dumps town full of aging subsistence-level farms and boarded-up granite mines. Inspiring? Sure. Realistic? No. Thankfully, that’s not the story the book actually portrays.
Instead we see a complex narrative unfold concerning the small town, Hardwick, Vermont — a narrative not fraught with easy answers, but which explores the real life ins-and-outs of a growing local food economy.
Wow. So many of you applied for the scholarship to Jenny’s online cooking class! I can’t describe how moving it was for me to read all your entries and hear such diverse and inspired reasons for why your loved ones could use a class on How To Cook Real Food. It was unbelievably hard to narrow down the selection to a round of finalists, and then even harder to wait to hear back from the other judges about the finalists I chose.
Now, I’m prepared to reveal the scholarship winner! As if that isn’t fun enough, Jenny also surprised us all today by revealing a Bonus Lesson — a small sample of what her class will be like, complete with a short video and materials to download.
