Heather -- I've done that, too with great results. I've also canned my own "Rotel" type tomatoes in the summer. Both are good alternatives to avoiding BPA.

The queso recipe was DELISH! I have tried other recipes with mixed results. This one was spot on, the first time I made it! The only thing I changed was dicing some fresh tomatoes, three jalepenos, and three serrano peppers instead of using the customary Rotel. I sauted them in some butter (though I am sure coconut oil would also work well) and it really spiced up the dip quite nicely.

I hate to say it, but I am a BIG football fan. Sorry! Even though I like to cook traditional foods and I'm anti-commercialism and all that too. I also have a husband who works for Tony Dungy, the recently retired coach of the Indianapolis Colts. Also, I live in Indianapolis, so of course I am a big fan of the Colts (who is also playing in the Superbowl ). I think it is possible to be a NFL football fan and be a foodie at the same time. ;-) Go Colts!

I have to laugh, after seven months in New Zealand, a country that couldn't care less about American Football, a country where a football is a round and white with black pentagons all over it, I hear about the Superbowl while reading this post on your blog! Yummy recipes though.

We aren't football fans, but every year we host a Superbowl party - mainly because we own the largest screen, so it's like a law that we have the game on. We also shop at the farmer's market and record everything, so we don't watch commercials. For the invites, I had to look up the game info. You want to know what's telling? I had to dig to find it! I guess it is assumed that everyone must live and breathe football and television in general, so there's no need to make such basic information readily available. I considered the fact that I had to dig as verification that I'm living my life separate from the mainstream (the media/entertainment-driven culture we live in). It can be done!

My husband's boss is giving us the day off on Monday if his team wins. Hubby is from the state whose team is playing the Saints.

I don't watch the game, but hubby calls me in to see the commercials. I usually do a blog post on my personal blog about the ads and rank them. We don't really pay much attention to the advertising before hand. We DVR all the TV we watch (a whole hour a day) and skip commercials, we don't shop at stores that have ads, etc. At least until they start putting ads at my farmer's market, then I'm in trouble!

The main reason to watch the Super Bowl is for the commercials. Except of course for this year because the Saints are in the game! And I of course am from New Orleans which makes it all even better. Geaux Saints! Love the weblog, and the recipes.
