Love your site! I have my own Food Renegade badge on my 'Heart Sisters' blog now. I am a heart attack survivor and a 2008 grad of the Mayo Clinic Science & Leadership Symposium for Women with Heart Disease. My blog is focused entirely on the subject of women and heart disease - our #1 killer. This link brings good news for all chocoholics out there!

Yes, Virginia, dark chocolate IS good for our heart health!

cheers from Canada,
C

My link is to my newest recipe for Mexican Style Guacamole Onion Soup With Cheesy Tostadas which takes its inspiration from French Onion Soup.

I usually make it with homemade guacamole, but to save time I sometimes use prepared guacamole from the farmer's market or from a little nearby Mexican restaurant that makes it several times a day.

My post is what I've been doing this winter to improve my family's nutrition, long term. I hope it's an encouragement to everyone, not just people with the resources to do what I'm doing.

A great article about more people having chickens in their backyard. I am SO excited, cause we're getting some of our own soon. I'm looking forward to reading everyone's posts today.

Here's my variation on the traditional chorizo con huevos using all local, mostly organic ingredients. Usually served at breakfast but suitable for any time of day, this dish easily scales to serve a crowd.

Comer con gusto!

I posted a link I found in the NY Times about processed food safety and talked a little bit about why I'm happy as a clam to not eat that kind of food anymore!

My post today is a variation on regular water kefir--make kefir with fruit juice! It's a tasty way to get your daily serving of probiotics.

Hi! Even though I read Nourishing Traditions six years ago, we didn't fully embrace it, nor fully understand about traditional techniques and how important they are for health. My post today explains what convinced us (how sprouting gluten-grains allows our gluten-sensitive family members to eat all grains now), gives an overview of Nourishing Traditions, and explains where our family is going... for the better! Thanks for another great Friday!
