Yum! I have always wondered what the difference was between all the various frozen treats- thanks for the foodie tots definition. Your gelato looks delicious.

Thank you all for your inspiring comments!

Marie – I’m thrilled to hear that you’re enjoying the site! I completely agree that a whole food diet is common sense and am glad that you’re enjoying it’s benefits. Like your husband, I also lost 30 pounds after eliminating processed foods. I wasn’t even trying to lose weight and didn’t know I had 30 pounds to spare! It was quite a reality check! My mood and energy level improved significantly as well.

I too feel sorry for the people who are being misled by the propaganda and are living compromised lives with disease and discomfort as a result. It’s unacceptable and is what motivated me to start this blog.

Jason – Yes, it’s such a shame how disinterested some people are in their health. I think many of them fail to recognize the importance of health in being able to live a long and fulfilling life. I find that it helps to tell them that it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. It’s very possible to be healthy while still enjoying the occasional indulgence. The 80/20 rule is a great guideline for this.

Stephen – Exactly! Surgery will only work if you eat less, so what’s the point? There are many safer ways for one to punish themselves for overeating!

No eating at the computer! It’s bad for your digestion! I have to be honest, I do it too and it’s something I need to change.

Faith – During the early 1900s, thyroid problems were becoming wide spread in areas of the United States and the problem was believed to be iodine deficiency. This why nearly all table salt is now iodized. As long as you have a well rounded diet, you shouldn’t have to worry about iodine deficiency, and even if you do have reason to worry, you can get a good supply of iodine from seafood, kelp, eggs, dairy, and a few other foods. If necessary, I think even an iodine supplement would be a better choice than table salt.

Greetings. This is my first time linking here. I just finished a new website for a permaculture farm in Nepal - Ajamvari Farm -- and included a post on some nutritious vegetables I learned to love there.

Another great article. It scares me to think what I used to do for weight loss back when I was younger. No more.

This Full Bar is just another example of a quick-fix myth that will never achieve lasting results. You’d think at this point people would start to realize that something in our society is terribly wrong!

Interesting point about roasted almonds. I knew raw were healthier but wasn’t exactly sure why. I eat raw almonds but tend to prefer roasted almond butter. Will keep that in mind.

Also, Vin–while natural sea salt is of course preferable, do you have an opinion on how iodine is supposedly an essential nutrient and natural salt doesn’t provide this? I’ve even seen warning labels on my sea salt containers.

Thanks for great blog!

Hi All,
I got so busy this morning, I almost forgot it was Friday. RFM, I was so happy to see Rick win for Frontera. :-)

Today's post is about Homeopathy, which we have used for many years along with real food to keep up healthy.

Today I posted about the winner of Top Chef Masters, Rick Bayless, and his sustainable farming foundation, Frontera Farmers Foundation.

Rick won $100,000 donation to the charity which provides farming equipment and other materials to assist regional farmers in his area with developing sustainable techniques. Bravo Rick and Bravo Top Chef for giving this cause the airtime it deserves!
