My blog for this week's FBF has a link to a newsreel video out of New Zealand about a woman named Rachel Tomkinson who cured her daughter's allergies and eczema with organic, whole, real, preservative-free foods, and uses (gasp!) "drippings" or animal fat.

This is my first time submitting, but i've been proudly sporting the Food Renegade badge all week long on my blog, and there it will STAY. Anyway, this week my fight fack friday post involves the criticism of the taste of local foods. It seems counter-intuitive to many, but some people regard local foods as LESS flavorful. I used a post I found on the Atlantic Magazine's food "channel" as a jumping off point. The post garnered some terrific beautiful comments as well!

Carolyn,

I live in Orlando and don't have too much of a problem finding some local foods. I have been working on sourcing grass-fed meat. Try www.eatwild.com and www.localharvest.org. also check out the USDA site for farmer's markets. They are hiding all over the place.

Also with the weather in Fl I would recomend a tomato pland and a strawberry plant. Supper yummy and they love the Fl temps.

Finally! We were able to participate in Fight Back Fridays! I've been meaning to for some time now, but my posting schedule didn't seem to allow it. Thanks for hosting this great event.

And kudos on the smooth cheese sauce :) Nice one.

Rosy -- That's truly fantastic news. I never would have doubted for a minute, but that's because I had friends who fed the raw goat's milk formula recipe to their babies. I watched those failing to thrive babies turn around! Raw goat's milk is just so nourishing.

Maureen -- Mmmm... I love real sourdough french toast.
